Design Week 06 — The Devious Lick

A first-person perspective game built in Unity. The project focused on the verb “lick” to create a silly, chaotic, and interactive playground for players.

Overview

For this Design Week, the challenge was to explore an underused action around a verb in a first-person perspective game. The goal was to create a playful, interactive environment where players could experiment with a wide range of actions.

The project provided opportunities for collaboration, skill development, and problem solving, bringing together students from different years in the program to learn from each other.

Player Experience

Our game, Lick, offers a playful and chaotic experience. Players use their tongue to interact with objects in the environment, creating a unique and humorous gameplay loop.

Players explore a playground with activities like:

A wacky physics system enhances the chaos, allowing the tongue interaction to feel playful, unpredictable, and full of possibilities.

Development Notes — My Role as 3D Artist

I contributed as the 3D artist for the project, creating the visual identity and building all the assets in the environment. This included modeling, texturing, and placing objects that players could interact with using the tongue mechanic.

This role allowed me to shape the aesthetic of the game and ensure that the chaotic gameplay felt cohesive and visually engaging.

Conclusion

Lick is a chaotic and playful game that demonstrates how focusing on a single verb can define a unique player experience. My contributions as a 3D artist ensured the props supported the mechanics and maximized player enjoyment.
